The CoachPad

Social Media Internship

About The Coachpad: The Coachpad is a unique product that provides the capabilities and capacity of a tablet with the look and feel of traditional paper. The Coachpad is versatile because coaches can load their digital scout cards, draw plays by hand, and even annotate any of the cards they have loaded. Easily integrating with a computer via USB or wireless connection, The Coachpad even has the ability to connect directly to cloud platforms like Dropbox, GDrive, and the native cloud service.

For this internship, I worked with The Coachpad to create social media graphics and videos. Skilled involved include: graphic design and video editing.

Journalism Explanatory Video

The content discusses the process of simplifying a complicated concept by interviewing someone who doesn’t understand the rule and narrating the explanation. The TikTok app was used for editing and narration, while free stock videos and photos from pexels.com and unsplash.com were utilized to demonstrate football clips. A graphic with a simplified definition of the rules was also incorporated. Due to strict NFL rules, the actual football game clip that initiated the rule could not be used, so improvisation was necessary. The video follows a story arc of posing a question and then providing the answer. It emphasizes that the visual nature of the video makes it superior to text, as it offers simplified answers to the viewers. Media Writing for Audiences.

Strategic Communication Explanatory Video

The video content is about the Carroll Edwards KU Bookstore Student Course Materials Fund, a new fund that is not widely known. I asked the KU Bookstore Manager for an interview, and she agreed. Before the interview, I planned the questions and created a shot list. In addition to the interview, the strategy was to gather enough B-roll footage to showcase the bookstore’s involvement in the fund. This is the final piece showcasing the new fund. On Location B-Roll

B-roll serves several purposes in video storytelling. First, it provides visual context and enhances the narrative with relevant scenes, settings, or actions that support the main story. Second, it adds depth and variety to the footage, keeping the audience engaged and interested. Additionally, b-roll can help smooth transitions between different parts of the story or cover cuts in interviews, making the final video more polished and cohesive. Visual Storytelling.
